June is approaching fast which means that Pride month will be upon us soon. Queer and Trans folk all over the country will prepare for parades, dances, drag shows, teaching moments and so much more. But in the last few years, Pride has taken a turn into more capitalistic ventures while anti-queer and anti-trans bills are consuming state legislatures. This year, it is more important than ever to stand in solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community and here are just 6 ways to celebrate Pride month!

According to a 2023 YouGov poll, 12 percent of Americans have engaged in some level of ethical non-monogamy. Around 4 to 5 percent identify as polyamorous, and this is on the rise, especially among people under 45 and those who consider themselves LGBTQ+. A separate study from 2017 conducted by the Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy found that over half of people who identify as LGBTQ+ have practiced some form of non-monogamy – double the rate of heterosexual people.

The world watches as Benjamin Netanyahu’s Israeli military has largely ignored Joe Biden’s red line in Rafah. For months, Biden has stated his opposition to a major Israeli offensive into Rafah, a city of 250,000 where more than a million displaced Gazans, nearly half of them children, have temporarily settled, mostly in tents, as a supposed refuge from Israel’s genocidal campaign. However, Biden’s redline has been anything but clear. In February, President Biden said he would not support a major ground invasion into Rafah without an adequate plan to “protect civilians.” All the while, humanitarian organizations like the World Health Organization (WHO) warned that a Rafah invasion would lead to a “blood bath.”

It’s been a long day of touring East Jerusalem and getting a crash course on the ongoing silent transfer of Palestinians out of their lands. Our first day began with a tour led by an Israeli guide from The Israeli Committee Against House Demolition (ICAHD), showing us the “matrix of control” that Israel has installed. Our bus drove from hilltop to hilltop and valley to valley in East Jerusalem, and we stopped in several places where we were shown how a slow strangulation is underway by Israeli settlements which swallow up more and more Palestinian land. Now 20 years old, Israel’s segregation wall snakes through these hills and valleys like an endless anaconda.
